Fifteen years ago, I ran a flooring business. When the pandemic closed us down, I had time to think about what came next. I'd spent years in construction, watching how things actually worked. And I'd watched how they didn't.

One moment stuck with me. A homeowner called my shop frustrated because they needed their bathroom renovated. The flooring contractor said he couldn't touch the plumbing.
